Ehime is in Shikoku, an island located southwest of Japan’s main island of Honshu. The region enjoys generally warm weather while the areas facing the Seto Inland Sea in particular have plenty of sunny days. Toyo can be reached by the Shimanami Kaido from Onomichi in Hiroshima prefecture, Chuyo is accessible by sea from Hiroshima and Kure in Hiroshima prefecture and Nanyo can be reached by sea from Beppu in Oita prefecture.

Toyo is the eastern area of Ehime. The area is known for its local industries and is home to some of Japan’s largest producers including the country’s largest towel manufacturer.One of the most popular sights in Toyo, the “Shimanami Kaido” consists of 9 bridges connecting 6 islands between Ehime and Hiroshima over the Seto Inland Sea, with a total length of 70 km. You can cross the Shimanami Kaido on foot or by bike via the special pedestrian laneways. Exploring the interconnected islands by bike is the perfect way of enjoying the spectacular scenery of this beautiful archipelago!
